Paypal Standard Business

Hi Tim,

With the last two orders I received Sytist never marked the invoices as paid via PayPal Standard Business. It is as if Sytist did not know about the payments. I am not sure why. Any thoughts on where I should look?

I think I figured it out...

It may be the User Agent Issue again. Rule 960015.

Request:
POST /sy-inc/store/payment/paypal-standard-return.php
Action Description:
Access denied with redirection to http://clients.shutterspeak.net/ using status 302 (phase 2).
Justification:
Match of "pm AppleWebKit Android" against "REQUEST_HEADERS:User-Agent" required

Yep sounds like it, but that would be coming from PayPal.

I'm going to white list that rule. It is just causing too many issues, false positives.

I am having the same issue, but don't understand the solution. Can someone please explain it in simpler terms? I have never had this running. this is a new payment system for me.

The orders are going through and people are being returned back to Sytist, but the orders are not being marked as payment processed. I have to do it by hand.

I have contacted Paypal and they say I have correct type of account and the payment info is being sent back to sytist.

Thanks

Bill

We are talking about a security module (called mod_security) within the web server itself that is incorrectly interpreting part of the PayPal info that is returned to the website as an attack. The security module blocks the data and the transaction doen't complete as expected. By white listing the rule that incorrectly interprets the attack we can correct the issue.

You would need to have access to the server itself to make these changes or maybe you can speak with your host.

Does this help?

Thanks for the info Joe, but I didn't have a firewall or mod_security running on my server. I do now. Either way my orders are not being marked as Payment Processed when they are listed in my orders tab, I have to advance that status manually. Is this normal?

Thanks again

Hi Bill - no that is not normal, there is an issue there.

And you should also run a firewall and some sort of active security module - glad to hear you have it in place now.

Bill, are these invoices you are sending or are they orders being placed on the website?

If they are invoices, are you on the current version of Sytist 2.7.2? There was an issue with the 2.6 update with invoices being paid with PayPal.

Hi Tim;

I am running version 2.7.2 and this is happening when people place an order. I have not tried sending out invoices.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is your PayPal account a business account? If it is a personal account, you need to change it to a business account.

If it is a business account, you can check the IPN history in your PayPal account to see if there are any errors. Log into your PayPal account then go to the following link:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-ipns-history

You should have a Search Results section. If nothing is in it, change the dates to when a payment was made.

Go to that PayPal link again and click on the Message ID of one of them. Email me what it shows for the Notification URL and what is in the IPN Message box.
