Order Information In Authorize.net

We upgraded from Photocart to Sytist. We use Authorize.net for our payment gateway. We understand that the way the payment is made is different in the sense that the customer will stay on the Sytist page to enter their information rather than the Photocart method of being redirected to the Authorize.net page to fill out the credit card info.
We did a test order on Sytist and can confirm that Authorize shows the credit card was charged. The only thing we are still trying to figure out is how to "attach" the order number to the Authorize transaction so when we search on our merchant end we can attempt to look for the order number.
A side note - The email confirmation to the customer seems to be stuck in some limbo. We can confirm there's no order confirmation email that went to spam. EDIT - We figured the email part out.

There is no order number when the payment is made. The order is not created until payment has been received (where as in Photo Cart orders were placed THEN paid).
