Pre-sale, Sold Collection, Cart Clears When Replacing Image If Customer Selected

Hi Tim,

New problem we are having with our site, we pre-sold 200+ digital photo packs over the last two weeks before our two big dance events. Some of our customers have had the carts clear out on them when they added a photo. We think we have figured out the reason this is happening and new a fix for it. Steps to reproduce below.

Create a pre-sale collection of 30 digital images using a pre-sale form - as admin
Purchase the pre-sale - as customer
Close the pre-sale and activate the associated gallery - as admin
Upload a bunch of photos to the gallery - as admin
Login and choose a few photos and add to your collection - as customer
Using the uploader, replace photos in gallery with higher res ones or edited one - as admin
Add another image to the collection - as customer
CART CLEARS (oh no!!)
Customer cannot gain access to the cart again. Only work around we found was to create a coupon code for the amount of the none pre-sale item that matches and trash the original order. Not trashing the order still stops the customer and says they have a pre-sale item that needs to be completed.

I hope it is an easy fix to the cart code or something to unselect the replaced images from the collection. We probably have 75+ orders in this state right now and have corrected about 25 manually so far. We replaced whole blocks of images over 9 days of shooting two different festivals as the wifi was bad and our connection kept dropping.

Our guess is that the photo ID changes in the DB when the new photo is uploaded (even when the photo name is preserved) Maybe the cart uses the photo ID to link the photo somehow to the collection? The cart code does not handle this exception by removing the invalid IDs that don't show up and just stops displaying. This is just a guess.

We also tried to find the customers cart in the stats section and clear it, but it does not show up in stats as well, by IP of customer name.

Help us Tim, you are only hope :)

I have followed these steps exactly and can not reproduce it and I can't imagine how it could.

So with the 25 that have done this, they ALL selected a few photos for their pre-paid packages then stopped. You re-uploaded some photos replacing the photos then they ALL came back after that to select more photos?

You can email me the following for me to look into it:

1) Link to your Sytist admin.

2) The admin username and password (or create me an admin account by clicking Admins in the upper right corner of the admin pages).

3) HOSTING control panel link, username and password.

4) The order numbers of 2 pre-order orders that was placed that now has a missing cart and was not created as a new order.
