Page Designer Problem On Home Page

I am using the Page Designer to move sections around (essentially reordering rows) on my Home Page. Using version 3.9.5

After I have moved a row or rows and then click Save in the bottom bar, all I get is a spinning circle. The changes do not get saved.

I have tried this in both Chrome and Safari on my Mac with similar results.

Prior to attempting this, I was able to use Page Designed successfully on other pages of my site, so I'm not sure what's going on here.

Thanks in advance.

Most likely there is some content that is triggering mod security on the server and returning a 403 error and not saving. Mod security is good but does have false positives. You would have to contact your hosting company support and let them know you are triggering mod security and have them whitelist the rule you are triggering.

Thanks Tim.

I don’t totally understand this though… I’m not changing the actual content, just moving it around.

Would there be server logs I could look at to see evidence of this? Just curious.

Thanks again.

Edit the homepage with the page designer but don't save.

Then open the network console in the developer tools in your browser (F12 in Chrome & Firefox). Be sure the Network tab is selected.

Then save in the page designer and look in the console like the attached screenshot. If it shows 403 where the 200 is in the screenshot, then that is mod security being triggered.

I don't know if your host would log 400 errors.

Thanks Tim.

Yeah it looks like I getting a 403 returned as follows:

I will contact GoDaddy to see what they say.

Thanks.

Tim, I just got off the phone with GoDaddy support and they cant see anything wrong. They said if it was mod-security blocking this activity, it would do so on any page I edit and save, which isn't the case. The problem is only happening on my home page. They asked me to check back with you to see if there's anything else you could look at or suggest.

Thanks.

Godaddy never sees anything wrong and it does not mean it would happen on every page you save. Something in the source code it is posting on that page is triggering mod security.

You may have to ask for higher up support at godaddy or start over on your homepage.

Thanks Tim.

I will give GoDaddy another call.

But how can I start over with my home page if I can't save any changes to it? I even tried changing templates and hit the same roadblock.

Doing my own digging, I discovered that the WAF on my Cloudflare service was blocking these requests before they even got to my web site. I added an IP access rule for my IP and now it works.

Thanks Tim for the guidance.
