Moving Files To Amazon S3

I have two different photography web sites using Sytist. They are hosted by different companies. When I start the transfer of files from the host to Amazon S3 on one site it continues the transfer without interruption till completed even when the computer goes into sleep mode. The second host site stops the transfer when active use of the computer stops even if I turn sleep mode off. Is there a reason for this difference that I am missing?
