Zero Dollar Products As Opposed To Free Download

I see that there is the option to offer a free download - does this track who has downloaded the image. If not, can I create a digital product that has a zero dollar value and is added to an order like any other paid product?

It will show who has download for free when clicking the stats & sale tab for the gallery and also an icon under the thumbnails.

I would still feel more comfortable if "free downloads" were attached to an order - can I make a product that has a zero dollar value?

Just make whatever size download you want available for $0.00, your customer will have to go thru the entire checkout process and you will have endless order emails if you do events, you will also have to manually archive all orders just like a paid order.

Thanks for your reply Steve, As we work with minors we have a duty of care to know who has images of who, should an image be used inappropriately - this is how we do things at the moment, but being able to offer a zero dollar product on our current cart was not possible - until we paid for custom coding to be done - so I just wanted to know if that was a feature in Sytist.

We do loads of events and this fits in with our workflow perfectly.

Thanks

I appreciate what you are saying we shoot youth activities, but once it hits social media it is out of your control, not to mention names and emails can be and are faked all the time. we even offered at one point limited free downloads with account holders, but once again a fake email address they were able to download more images. There are other measures that can be taken with sytist from private galleries to galleries that require a pass code that could be given to lets say a little league team. but like i said once it hits social media it is out of your control what happens to the image.

Best of luck
Steve

Hi Steve,

Oh when I say social media size, I only meant that as a generic term for a small photo. We would never allow images to be shared directly from the cart to social media sites. We do require an authenticated account with a valid email, and while I realise there are 10 minute email addresses, I have most of those domain blocked on our current site. I know that there is not much that can be done once the image has left us, but until that point - I will do everything that I can, and with our current cart it also logs IP addresses when someone signs up - so I am hoping that this is something Sytist does as well. (fairly certain PhotoCart did) We photograph school balls and so there are lot of young ladies in revealing outfits, and while it has not happened to us, there have been instances in Australia where photos from these events have been used inappropriately - so we really must err on the side of caution.

Cheers,

Craig

You can make a product at $0.00 and they can checkout without paying.
