With my current cart - I upload a zip file via FTP containing a folder hierarchy that contains all the images in folders that are named for the sub galleries that they will become. Within those folders are thumbnail images and viewing sized images which have the watermark baked into them.

Full resolution images for download are stored in a different folder on the server.

Am I able to upload to Sytist in a similar way
1) I feel it is faster as the images are sized and no processing is needed server side
2) I prefer the watermark be a permanent feature of the viewing sized image because if right click disable is circumvented, and there are many browser extensions that do this, then at least the little SOB's are not getting an un-watermarked image

You can upload via FTP, here is how:

Watermarks are permanent on the photos shown on the site.

Ok thanks for that - I am looking at using S3 to host files - I have read your documentation about this but have a few questions - apologies if the answers are there and I missed them.

Can I upload directly to S3 and then point Sytist at the bucket?

When Sytist processes files when the are uploaded - what is actually done? How many different versions does it create? Currently I process all images on my desktop and upload files sets (thumbnails, viewing copies, complimentary social media files and full resolution - we do not sell different resolution files only full res) that are needed to the places that they are needed.

The reason we do it that way is we found due to the volume we have, we had server timeouts when trying to use the built in processing for our current cart and this led to random issues like some images not appearing at all or just thumbnails missing - it was a nightmare.

It may well be that this does not occur with Sytist as it is likely far more efficient than my current cart - but I am wary.

Also, is there any chance you might offer other could storage services in addition to S3, such as BackBlaze B2 - which it so happens I already have an account with.... :-)

Thanks

Craig

You can upload either with the uploader in the admin or FTP. Those are the 2 options.

Sytist creates 4-5 photo file for each photo that are used in different places.
