Photos Not Shown On Website Wont Delete

Somehow I have 1339 photos under the tag photos not show on website.
I have spent the last hour trying to delete them but they just won't go.
I have tried the shift-click to select bulk images and then delete when I go back to check they are all still there.
I have tried manually clicking each and every image then delete but when I go back to check they are still there!
How do I get them off the site?

Hi Shirley
I had the same problem this is how Tim said to fix it.
Go to Settings -> Photo Settings. Under "Deleting Purchased Photos" , you probably have those checked.
