Store Download Chosen By Customer

In the store, I can add a download product but the site then asks me to upload a file for them to download. Is there a way the customer can select the download they want from their gallery?
I know this is possible with 'photo products' but I'm trying to find a way to do this in the store to take advantage of some of the other design elements available there.

Store products just don't work that way. You have to upload the file (like a zip file) for them to purchase and download.
