500 Internal Server Error

I am suddenly having trouble uploading images to galleries.

-I have checked my memory, upped it on my host.
-I started with images around 1MB or less, 1500px on longest side (same as I always did). I kept trying to make them smaller, and it wasn't until I got to 100px on longest side was I actually able to upload them. This is obviously way too small for my clients to view.
-I deleted a lot of old galleries, even though I have unlimited storage through my host.

I don't know what else to try.

Thank you, Britt

Hi Britt (and Tim)

I got the same error warning this morning when trying to optimize and back up my database.

I checked my hosting too and all is looking healthy ...

I was just able to upload them via FTP. So at least there is that, but would love to know if there is still something I could do on the front end.

Sounds like something has changed on your hosting and probably some PHP settings have changed too.

When in the upload window, click the server configurations link. You will see max upload and post sizes. Are your photos bigger than those values?

Brooke, pretty much the same, something on your hosting has changed on the hosting to screw things up. 500 errors are not logged like other errors so you would need to contact your host to see if they have a log of it.

I checked my PHP settings, they were set way higher than I would need. I checked my server configurations link, the max upload and post sizes are way above what I would need.

I couldn't even upload one image that was 1500 px on one side and was 1MB. It wasn't until I made it 100 px on one side and was 56K in size.

So obviously it is a size issue, just not sure what else to check since all of the settings suggested in the support section are fine, I haven't changed how I have been doing it for years with no issues.

I guess I will stick with ftp uploading.

Sounds like a value is entered in wrong with the PHP configuration. You can email me your hosting or FTP info (username and password) and the link to your Sytist and I can take a look.
