Upload Workflow?

AS a longtime Photocart user I am a little disturbed by the apparent workflow needed by Sytist for event type usage (several thousand uploaded per day)
Photocart with Dave's Uploader: One step, processing handled locally, minimal server space needed, fast uploads, gallery previews could be used for digital downloads, uploads could be done in the field (cell hotspot)
Sytist 1 Full file uploaded, ridiculous server space needed, long upload time, cell usage high.
Sytist 2 Resize images before uploading, this adds an extra step, slow upload thru browser.
Sytist 3 Resize images, ftp, then process, this adds 2 extra steps but is probably faster overall than using browser for uploading.
There are probably a couple of other combinations as well, but I am trying illustrate the current limitations of Sytist for event photgraphy usage.
Yes, Sytist is overall a much better and more flexible product than Photocart, especially for studio/wedding/portrait photographers that will edit their content before uploading, but in instant gratification event market that really only needs the shopping cart features, the workflow needed makes it a hard upgrade.
I also understand that being more full featured than Photocart and being aimed more toward the studio/wedding/portrait is probably a good long term business direction. However, as Photocart is an obsolete product and hosting companies are starting to have issues with it, I expect a lot of current users will be looking for a replacement. So I see a serious need for a pre-upload processing solution, whether by Tim as part of Sytist or a third party.
I not trying to be negative or stir the pot, just want a clear understanding of whether Sytist is the correct way to go from Photocart for my business model.

There is a watch folder option if you were to resize the photos then FTP them where it processes the photos as they are uploaded:

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

Thanks Tim
I had missed the watch folder option, that combined with ImBatch for automated resizing and ftp looks like a pretty workable solution.
Will check it with a test drive.
