Hi Tim,
I'm consistently having trouble with emails not being delivered to hotmail email addressees. Most importantly order confirmations and download links but also gallery expiring reminders. Is there anything I can do about this? It seems they often don't even end up in customers spam folder, they just disappear.

Hotmail is really bad about blacklisting IP addresses causing emails not to go through to them. You should get up with your host and see if the IP address of your website has been blacklisted with hotmail.

yes i am having this problem with a new person that tried to create an account. of course hotmail won't receive it., however not surpirsed.
i contacted my host and they said "The SPF and DKIM records are added for my domain. I and are working on DMARC creation. not sure what that all means but it will authenticate my domain for sending emails. is that correct?

Yes, correct. You still might have to check if your IP address is blocked or something. But all that has to do with the hosting.

Hi Dale,
Make sure you are using the SMTP option otherwise the SPF and DKIM will work against you as your domain will have the requirement in its DNS but the php email won't be able to add the DKIM key to the email header and for SPF the mail servers are likely different from the hosting server.
You can run some tests, just search for DKIM tester on google for appropriate links and instructions.
