i"m just getting around to updating the new updates and once it unzips it just sits there spinning and just sits there. I never had this issue before. Is there something I'm missing.

When using the auto update from the admin and it seems to hang when trying to unzip, then the ZIP functions are probably not enabled in the PHP on your hosting. You can contact your host and ask them to enable the ZIP functions in PHP. If it has worked before, then your host changed something that removed the ZIP functions in PHP.
