Hi Tim,
With the passcode option I have no need to have sub galleries for my preschool work. My first preschool for the year will have around 5000 images. Is there any reason not to put them all in one gallery? Will it slow viewing down or something??
Thanks,
Sarah

Most hosting companies have an inode limit of 1024 (if linux based hosting), each inode is one file. If you have a thumbnail, a small image, the large image, and if you choose to keep (not discard) the originals this means that each image has 4 files. The most you can have in a gallery or each subfolder is around 250 images, or 333 if you choose to not keep the originals. Godaddy shut me down once before because of this. Also, as most people will not sit down and go through all 5000 images at one time, it is nicer to have subfolders so they dont have to try to remember where they were at in the viewing process if they take a break, or lose internet connection. Just my 2 cents :)

I’m with Saratoga and have 2k images in there already. This is for a couple hundred kids from a preschool. With the passcode, they only see their 20-40 images, not the whole 5000!

Too funny after lots of trouble with GoDaddy, I went to Dave at Saratoga hosting and to Amazon S3 for my image storage (we have 300gb from this last year). I would just shoot Dave a quick message and ask if it would slow the server or client loading time. That would be the only issue, I am unsure if Dave has inode or file limits on his servers.

No need to put them in sub galleries. There will be no difference with the speed of the gallery.
