Sytist Update 2.7 With Automated Abandoned Shopping Cart Reminder Emails & More

A new Sytist update (2.7) is now available.

Automated Abandoned Shopping Cart Reminder Emails

You can now send reminder emails to customers with abandoned shopping carts automatically with automated emails.
Learn more about this feature

Email Wrapper Code

This wraps the emails sent from Sytist in a table which contains the width of the email content and makes them prettier.  The default code makes the outer background a light gray and content area white. See more in the manual.

Also:

  • Added font weight and letter spacing options in the theme editor for text & titles.

  • Reworked the options in the text & settings section when editing a page or gallery. It has a clean look and options open in a side panel to edit.

  • Added the option to manually add email addresses to the opt-out list for automated emails (People -> Opt-Out Emails).

  • Added the option to view & delete individual automated emails pending to send in Settings -> Automated Emails

A few more things and a few fixes. Click here for the complete change log for this update.

How to update:
The first time each day you log into the admin it will check for the update. If you have already logged into your admin today , then you won't get the notice until tomorrow.

If you are currently using version Sytist 1.0.0 or higher, you can have it check for the update again by clicking on Settings in the main menu. Then scroll down and below the left menu, click MySQL query. Copy the following line of code, paste it in the query box and click run.

UPDATE ms_history SET upgrade_check='';

Then return to your admin home page.

If the auto update feature won't work for you for some reason, you will have to manually update.

When using the auto update from the admin and it seems to hang when trying to unzip, then the ZIP functions are probably not enabled in the PHP on your hosting. You can contact your host and ask them to enable the ZIP functions in PHP.

I love the Automated shopping Cart Emails. Am I missing something though? Is there a way to contact people who have left a session in their shopping cart?

You can go to Stats -> Shopping Carts and you can directly email people there.

I see. I just did that but there is no email address located there.

Right now it seems once can put a session in a cart without having to create an account first.

It looks like someone clicked on a session and chose as date, but did not go through with the booking, so there is no way for me to follow up with the individual.

Updated and emails look better!!!... but if I send a test email via the mail sending settings, I get a messy HTML coded test email... as per below!

I've send a few test emails from the templates, and they look fine... so it appears its just this test option, which is acting strange! Is this a bug?

Cheers,
Stew

Hi,

I love the idea of an abandoned shopping cart email! Its just what I need!

However, when I click on the default email link from the auto cron page, it takes me to a blank default email template. I have 2 sytist websites and on one of them there is no default email for an abandoned cart on my list of default emails. The other has default emails for the 4th attempt to notify customers with abandoned carts, but not the initial attempt or 2nd, or 3rd.

Did the update not install correctly?

Please advise
Thank you

Stewart, yes I forgot about the test email sending as plain text and why it is doing that. Thanks for pointing that out.

Wendy, that hasn't happened anywhere else. I don't know why it would have on yours. You can email me the website addresses and FTP or hosting info and I can take a look at the databases.

Sorry for the clutter....

After the 5th time, the Theme was correctly saved...

Any idea what the issue may have been?

My apologies...

Hi Tim,

I set up the email for our clients, and did a test one to one of the staff here in the office. I didn't change any of the text in the body of the email (used your preset template), however, it is not showing the cart image. What would be causing it to not show? I'm attaching a screen shot so you can see what I am talking about.

Hi Tim,

Something I've just noticed since upgrading... I've received a new order and noticed the words 'Sytist Test Drive' in the header of the new order email. It doesn't appear in the actual email text, but shows up in the mail list preview (I guess that's the header?).

Where's the text coming from? I'm a long term user of the software, so definitely not in the 'test drive' period, whatever that is!!!

Cheers,
Stewart

I have the same issue as Wendy did; when I go to view the email I get a blank template and am creating a new one which then isn't saved later.

Recreating the error:
Settings > Automated Emails (CRON)
Scroll to "Abandoned Shopping Cart Register Customers / Email 1" and click "View default email"
The page that opens is "Create New Default Email"
> I created the email template I wanted, Email Name = "Abandoned Cart", and hit "Save Changes"
Return to Settings > Automated Emails (CRON)
Click "View default email" and it opens "Create New Default Email" again.

If I look in the "Default Emails" list, the new email I created is listed but it doesn't appear to be linked to the CRON job.

EDIT: Some of the emails in the "Automated Emails" list let you choose which message is sent (like the gallery reminders), but that option is missing for these. Is that by design?

All of my default emails for the abandoned shopping cart are empty, blank, no text whatsoever.
Is that how it should be or should there be some default text there?

I just made another update available that will fix the missing abandoned shopping cart email and the Sytist test drive email preview text.

https://www.picturespro.com/sytist-manual/change-log/

You can have it check for the update again today if you have already logged into your admin today by clicking on Settings in the main menu. Then scroll down and below the left menu, click MySQL query. Copy the following line of code, paste it in the query box and click run.

UPDATE ms_history SET upgrade_check='';

@Adina ... did you send that email from Stats -> Shopping Carts?

No, I did a test email from our staff's dummy account on our site by going to "people", typing their name in, then I went to their profile/info page and clicked the email icon and from the selection of emails to send out, I selected the registered customers abandoned cart option and sent the email out. Here's screen shots of what I did/

Emailing from there does not currently add the cart_image. You would need to go to Stats -> Shopping Carts and send the email from there.

**Emails sending as PLAIN TEXT
I upgraded to 2.7.2 using auto update, and again using manual method and still my emails are sending as plain text with HTML all through it.
This appears to be specifically related to an "access request" email. Of which there appears to be two of the same in the list of default emails.
example:

Email

@media only screen and (max-width: 800px) {
table[class=body] h1 {
font-size: 28px !important;
margin-bottom: 10px !important;
}
table[class=body] p,
table[class=body] ul,
table[class=body] ol,
table[class=body] td,
table[class=body] span,
table[class=body] a {
font-size: 16px !important;
}
table[class=body] .wrapper,
table[class=body] .article {
padding: 10px !important;
}
table[class=body] .content {
padding: 0 !important;
}
table[class=body] .container {
padding: 0 !important;
width: 100% !important;
}
table[class=body] .main {
