Php Upgrade Question

My PHP on Godaddy is 5.3. I should probably upgrade as they do not support it actively. Do I want to go to 5.4 or 5.6? Godaddy warns "If you are using a custom php.ini file, the file will need to be named php56.ini for your changes to take effect."
Do I need to change this .ini file and where do I find it if I do?

If you just have Sytist on your hosting account, you can upgrade to PHP 7.0. Otherwise, either of those should be fine.

Godaddy does not offer me the option of PHP 7 in my dashboard. Do I need to be concerned about the.ini file?

I don't think you need to worry about the ini file.
