Client Can Not Find Their Order

I have a client who placed an order for a "buy all" to download all images in her gallery. The payment was completed and she decided to download later, so she closed her browser.

Now when she returns and "signs in" there is no order showing in her order history. We sent her instructions about how to do a manual search but this frustrated her terribly as it took quite a few tries to find the order; I suspect something small like a space in the postal code messed up the searching. On our end the order exists in the system and the contact info seems to match perfectly.

So finally the order has been found, and uses the same email etc as the client account, but is not linked to her profile. Why would this be?

Is there a way to re-connect the client and her order so it shows up in her order history?

Most likely they placed an order without creating an account or logging into their account. So they will need to use the find order option and enter in their email address, order number and zip code. There is not an option to assign an order to an account.

OK, thanks ... could you (pretty please) consider an admin-side linkup as an option for future development? Or -- if someone makes an order with an email that is already in the system could it perhaps force a "sign in" before completing the transaction?

Anyway - I hope this was just a rare client issue. Thanks for the reply.

Why don't you just require an account in order to checkout. Under Settings/Checkout and Payment Options. Then they would have to be logged in and you wouldn't have that issue.

is there a way to change this? I don't require a postcode/zip or account and I have only found out about this now as people cant get into their orders.

I'd only tested the download function on free downloads and assumed a paid order would work in a similar fashion.. ?

( BTW< the reason I do NOT require an account is because I bulk deliver to one location. I find that when clients add in their own addresses, no matter what the literature, notes, warnings, popups say, they start expecting delivery to their door... )

Once someone completes and order, then can download their photos immediately from the order.

If they need to come back to view the order again for some reason and they did not create an account and you don't require a zip code, you can tell them to leave the zip code field blank, They will only need to enter in their email and order number. You can edit the default order email in Settings -> Default Emails to add that instruction.
