Photo Titles/ Captions Placement (below Instead Of On The Photo)

Is there a way to place the image title and caption outside of the photo margins (e.g. below) in the gallery/slideshow view, and also in the thumbnail view? The title/caption showing on the photo itself is not ideal for our need.

The thumbnail view can allow the listing of filename below the thumbnail, but is there a way to allow title and/or caption below the thumbnail instead?

thanks,

NK

In the Photo Display Settings when in the Photos tab when editing a page, there is an option for "Caption location" ... on photo or below photo.

Not an option to display the photo name or caption below the thumbnail at this time.

Tim,

This option for caption location is only available for the "Scroller" display option. Adding this option to other display options (slideshow, thumbnail gallery, etc.) during display would be a HUGE help!! Let me know if this can be prioritized or if there is a way to do this at our end?

thanks.

I have made a note on my to-do list to look into this.

Tim,

Thank you! I imagine that this would be a very important option for many fine art and other photographers, and please consider adding this in the next update. The title/caption overlay on the image itself on more preferred display options (slideshow, thumbnail/lightbox, etc.) can take away from the image, especially for fine arts.

Edit your theme
Additional CSS add this:

.photocaptioncontainer { display: none !important; }

Hi Tim, I wanted to remove the title and caption completely and used the CSS listed above and it worked great for desktop but it's still showing below the photo on mobile. Is there anything I can do to not display title/captions at all? I know this is an older thread so maybe there is a better way to do it now. Thanks.

The title and caption don't show under the photos on mobile so I don't know why they would be for you unless you changed some code. But when uploading photos, you can check the option "Do not capture Title, Caption & Keywords from IPTC data" and it won't capture a title or caption.
