Photo Deletion

Possible error....

I have been trying to tidy up my galleries as I am reaching the maximum amount of server space and all the most recent files have deleted and on the admin home page the files show they are being deleted as the number of images counts down - all good so far....

However I have deleted a sub gallery buried in a gallery that was created in 2014 which contained several thousand images and it just deleted - not counting down - just gone. How can I check to see if the files have actually gone because I am suspicious they are still buried somewhere

Any ideas? Or can you explain where I should look to check?

Thanks

Pete

There is an issue when deleting a sub gallery it is not deleting the sub galleries under it. It does if you delete the main gallery. This is something I need to look into.

But if you go to the All Photos section and sort by upload date ascending (for the oldest) and find a photo you think should have been deleted, you can view it and click the Upload Session link and it will pull up all the images uploaded in that session (at the same time). Then select all and delete from there.

Hi Tim

So I have done what you asked and I can see that there are 8000 images from 2014 which I can delete without even looking at (they were in a sub folder that wasnt deleted)
How can I select all? (Hopefully in one go.....?)

When I look at my list of files in my server admin can I delete anything that doesnt have sy- in front of it? Or will I end up deleting something I shouldn't?

It is the same server space I have used for 10 years+ so there is all sorts of stuff on it I dont need. I would do a clean install if I knew how!

If you click a thumbnail then click the Upload Session, there will be a Select All Link.

All the Sytist files & folders will start with sy- EXCEPT for index.php, .htaccess and any main sections and top level pages you have created.

Example, if you created a section called "clients", there will be a "clients" folder there for it. If you created an "About" page, there will be an about folder there.

What does this do to the galleries that you have sold items in? Do the records still show what was sold with the file name, thumbnail, etc? I have moved away from installed software for my business and have been using the sytist for all my billing for over a year, but I am running out of server space and need to delete older galleries.

Thank you for any help anyone can offer.

Also curious about what happens to images that were shared...do they just become blank boxes on facebook?

There will still be a record of the sold photo & file name on the orders. The thumbnails will no longer be available.

Images shared will still be on facebook because facebook actually saves them to their servers.
