Sytist 1.7 Update Available With Egift Cards

A new Sytist update, 1.7, is now available.

The main reason for this update is to get the new eGift Card feature out since we are in the holiday season.

The eGift Card feature allows people to purchase eGift Cards (or gift certificates) which are emailed to the recipient to be used to purchase products and services from you. Information on this feature in the manual here.

Another new feature in this update is the option to export photos file names and products from multiple orders from the order list. This option can be found at the bottom of the list of orders in the Orders section of your Sytist admin.

Click here for the complete change log for this update.

How to update:
The first time each day you log into the admin it will check for the update. If you have already logged into your admin today , then you won't get the notice until tomorrow.

If you are currently using version 1.0.0, you can have it check for the update again by clicking on Settings in the main menu. Then scroll down and below the left menu, click MySQL query. Copy the following line of code, paste it in the query box and click run.

UPDATE ms_history SET upgrade_check='';

Then return to your admin home page.

If the auto update feature won't work for you for some reason, you will have to manually update.

Tim is there a possibility to buy an e-card at a discount?

As in say a £100 card costs £85

Is there a validity date on the e-card?

Been asked for gift cards a few times this year

Tim,

Can you explain this a bit more "Add the option for the admin to set tax rate at checkout (point of sale order for the customer)."

Thanks....

Is there a way to have it appear on both the top mini bar and main menu? It does not appear in the "link to page" dropdown.

Great addition! I'd like to try to use this as a link that goes directly to the site and popup. Can you post the code?link that would do this?

Not an option for that.

No there is not.

This is if you are doing in person sales and checking out as that customer and need to change the tax rate for that order.

To add the eGift Card to the main menu or link on a page, use this for the URL:

javascript:giftcertificate(0);

Before the 1.6 update you stated:
The mat color shows on the order, just not the name. I will look into it.

Update 1.6 - Still no mat color name in new update.
Update 1.7 - Still no mat color name in new update.

Hi there,
I am very happy you finally made a Gift-Card again. There is just one little problem, in the Gift Card there is a fix coded $ Symbol in front of the amount to enter... I can not find where I can change this sign to CHF (for Swiss Currency). Can you please tell me, in which sytist file I can change this ? I searched the .css and .php files but could not find it.
For everyone outside the US, this will be a issue.
Thank you very much..
Tom

Hi Tim, The eGift card is looking good and is saving a lot of working around and selling gift vouchers. My question, can a egift card be used to pay off a payment from a payment scheduled. On my system it is showing up as paypal only when you click on make a payment, ideally I would also like a link for redeem egift as well. If ecards could be used to help clients pay of there wedding packages that would great.

thanks

Steve Jorgensen:

Wouldnt you just use a Registry for people to pay off (B&G)wedding packages?
Send them a link to share etc?

eGift cards are basically gift certificates that people can purchase to be emailed to someone else. When someone receives an eGift Card, they will have a redeem code to use and there will be an option at checkout for them to enter in that code.

The eGift Card will deduct from the purchase just like a payment. If there is any amount left over from the eGift Card, it will be added to the customer's account as an account credit.

I think the Egift is a great addition, but think it should be located in Photo Products instead of People.

Thanks Gareth for your reply,
I understand how they work and think they are great, but let me re explain my question.

A client books a package with us for their wedding. They have decided to pay it off over 6 months in 6 payments. (as made available in the last upgrade).

If the client sister then buys her an eGift card for xmas for say $100. Can the client use this to make a payment on her wedding package. (yes I can do it manually, I was just wondering if the client could do it at their end.)

As it stands now (I think) when the client clicks to make a payment, the only option they get given is to go to paypal. I was hoping there would also be a box saying redeem eGift.

Thanks
Steve

After thinking about this a bit more I don't think it is possible because the pre aranged payments need to be for the exact amount and the eGifts will not always be this. That's cool, I was just making sure I have my story straight as it is only a matter of time before a client asks.

My main concern is the eGifts not showing up on my menu on my android phone. A very high % of people who view my site do so on mobile devices so I do not want to start pushing the eGifts if they can not find the link.

Aric, if there are any valid gift cards in the system, it will show a button to redeem at checkout. See attached.

I will be putting out an update to fix the links to the eGift Cards not showing on mobile or in the main menu, and the wrong currency sign showing on the other amount option and a few other things probably tomorrow.

eGift Cards can't be used on paying an invoice payment. Didn't consider it. You could just manually apply it if that were to happen for now.

With this update, if a gallery is set to pre-register and i am logged in as an administrator, i believe i use to be able to see the price list when clicking on images. Now the price list does not show up (blank space). It was good to be able to check all the functionality before publishing the gallery

Just a silly question.
I see in the gift card the Redeem code
TBD-123456789,that is shown by default, and as I see from Thomas Wuersten post looks to be same for all the Systist users,
Will this be changed time by time,or different customers will see always the same code? And in the Admin what we will see, once the Egift Card will be purchased?
Thanks
Marco

Michael, nothing changed there. So either it is something to do with your price list, or you have a price list assigned to the account your are using and possibly you deleted it.

Marco, that is just a sample. The real redeem code is created when purchased and emailed to the receiver. You will see the gift cards purchased in the admin and the codes.

This is a great option to have - thanks!

We came across an issue to be aware of - additional gift cards will be created and emailed to the recipient every time you go into an order that included an eGift card - click edit payment - and then click add payment.

We had a gift card that was paid for by check. When we added the payment, it sent the recipient a gift card. We realized we forgot to click to send the order to the customer, so went back in to edit payment, clicked that checkbox and clicked add payment to save. Another gift card for the same amount, with a new redeem code, was sent to the recipient. We tested this out again and anytime you click add payment it will send another gift card to the recipient.

I have one question. Is there a way to add an image to the background of the eGift card rather than default one tone color look. I'm not sure how to do the coding in HTML to make a background. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have today accepted a cash payment for a gift certificate for a shoot.
I thought I could attach a gift certificate to an account and then email and/or print it out for them - much in the same way I’d attach an invoice to an account.

But it looks like I can only do gift certificates that are paid for online.
Is this correct and do I need to log this as a feature request?

Thanks - gift cards are a very welcome feature!

Hello Tim,

Thank you for the timely eGift Card function.

I have a request - as there is no minimum amount, can we please have incorporated the ability to add a minimum value so that customers/clients can choose upwards of a certain value? As an example, if the minimum was from the lowest stated eGift Card value, that would be great.

Also, I second Jesse Johnson's request - the ability to upload a transparent (png) or jpg background would be fab.

Thanks
Dre

I've added this feature today, however the popup box appears to be very long, anyway to make the popup wider (on a 1900x1200) screen i even have to scroll down :D
