A new Sytist update, 1.4, is now available. Some highlights from this update:

  • New Bonus Coupons - A coupon for a product or products for free or a discounted price

  • Mobile version loads much smoother and mobile menu cleaner.

  • Added the ability to assign customers to download for free from a certain gallery or sub gallery.

  • Added the option to set custom available days per service for booking calendar services.

And many other things. See the change log for all additions and changes

If you have any questions to comments about this update, post them here.

How to update:
The first time each day you log into the admin it will check for the update. If you have already logged into your admin today , then you won't get the notice until tomorrow.

If you are currently using version 1.0.0, you can have it check for the update again by clicking on Settings in the main menu. Then scroll down and below the left menu, click MySQL query. Copy the following line of code, paste it in the query box and click run.

UPDATE ms_history SET upgrade_check='';

Then return to your admin home page.

If the auto update feature won't work for you for some reason, you will have to manually update.

After the 1.4 update my additional CSS for the Cart/Page listing no longer works:
#ebmessage {
background-color: #54B93E;
border: 1px solid #2A9B11;
border-radius: 2px;
color: #FFFFFF;
padding: 16px;
text-align: center;
}
#ebmessage h3 { color: #FFFFFF; }

Also, regarding "Added the text editor for the early bird special text." I cannot find where that is located. Tim, all I want to be able to do is give a % discount for ANY order amount, not have it dependent upon the order amount.

I did a test checkout and it worked. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Assign Free downloads feature. SO much easier than giving a code to my Trial Chairs who need to access for publications! Having the display settings tab in each event totally Rocks!

I have just updated the update to version 1.4.1 to fix additional CSS not taking and also those who have problems viewing cart. The viewing cart error is strange because it isn't happening everywhere and the error is in a spot that hasn't changed.

You can make your Sytist check for an update again by clicking Settings in the main menu. Then scroll down and below the left menu, click MySQL query. Copy the following line of code, paste it in the query box and click run.

UPDATE ms_history SET upgrade_check='';

Then return to your admin home page.

I can't think of a reason why you would be getting the MySQL has gone away message.

Go to Settings -> Admin / Main Settings and the option "Auto check for updates once a day on home page" set to no. Save then go back to the home page and see if the error goes away.

Ya Tim That appeared to load the home page without error and faster. Anything else I should do? Or am I all set?

Thanks!

Bonus Coupons are a great idea and what would be even better is if the customer could buy a number of the items i.e. you sent 100 so buy as many of product xyz at for 10 each

How can i use the bonus coupon to just offer just downloads for free or discounted? Unless I did something wrong I tried to make a collection with just a large download. If the collection is added to the cart and then the image added to the collection it still doesn't seem to work. I see a message about adding it when selecting the collection. Could we just get a simple option for selecting a product or a collection?

Hi Tim, having issues after 1.41 upgrade.

Payment options other than paypal have disappeared.

When trying to create new payment option I am getting.

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in (I have removed the website name steve) /sy-admin/form.functions.php on line 185
MYSQL ERROR: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1

Thanks

Michael, how does it not seem to work if you added the image to the coupon? The process is redeem coupons -> view a photo -> select it for the coupon.

Stephen, in Settings -> Checkout & Payment, you don't see any payment options other than PayPal? And how are you trying to create a new payment option? There is no "add new payment option" button.

Scratch that Stephen, I see what is going on now. I will be putting out another follow up update.

Tim,
Ok, I'm missing something or simply don't follow. You say "redeem coupons -> view a photo -> select it for the coupon", but how do you redeem a coupon without having anything in the shopping cart? If I go to an image and choose that collection and add to cart, I can then say redeem coupon from the cart. If I redeem it, then I can go pick an image and add to the bonus coupon.
I also don't see how to add more than 1 image.

You can add a menu item to allow you to add a coupon before adding images in Design > Menu Links you will find Redeem Coupon

I now have the bonus coupon running and I can add images to the coupon which are downloads. I had to set the quantity higher to allow more than 1. Is there a way to just make it unlimited? The number of poses is set to 0, but I'm not sure what determines a pose. My big issue is that this coupon can be used in any of my galleries. I would have assumed that the collection used in the coupon will only work in a gallery that uses that collection in it's price list. Did I miss something or can it not be limited to which price lists use that collection?

The bonus coupon is not limited to a certain gallery. But are you basically wanting one person have free downloads from a certain gallery? If so, another feature added in the last update is:

Added the ability to assign customers to download for free from a certain gallery or sub gallery.

So you can basically assign someone to a gallery or sub gallery where they can download for free from ONLY that gallery or sub gallery.

See toward bottom of this article on how to do that.

My need is for multiple people to be able to download for free from a specific gallery, but not everyone. For example, I do pictures at a Bar Mitzvah or Sweet 16 I want to give them a coupon which they can give to people of their choice to download for free. They don't want every guest getting for free and if each one had to sign up and then I assign them it would be too much work.
Any suggestions on how to do that? It would have been perfect if the bonus coupon only worked if the collection was assigned to that price list or there was a gallery choice menu to assign it to.

There just isn't a way to accomplish that at this time unless you add each person to the free downloads for the gallery.
