Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

Way Behind In Updating

I'm terrible at updating. I dont think I've ever taken the time to update my Sytist and I am using version 1.2.2 . All the bells and whistles of updates seem great but honestly this version has always met my customers' needs and many tell me they love that my site is bare necessities simple and doesn't offer too many options to get them lost.

Ok, so now I'm feeling I've fell way too far behind by not updating. And seeing a possible malware problem could happen, I feel I should do something.

Bottom line.... can I do updates now without terribly causing problems (my history in updating other technology always seems issues arrive when updating. lol) Can or what will I lose ? What's going to change in my Sytist? And sometimes I'm technically challenged so how difficult is updating?

I don't think the updates will cause you any problems. You will be able to apply the update right from the admin. Between your version and the current, a lot has been added and the admin looks better. The security fix I mailed out this morning doesn't apply to your version though because it didn't come in until version 2.6
