Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

2/3 of the way into processing 6K images, and POOF, everything stopped! Figuring from reading other issues, tried to delete some galleries (just in case), and nothing happens except "wheels turning", like "no response". Is that likely an issue with my server or Photocart??

Also, once this happens, there appears to be no way to "pick up where shit went south!!" lol

I think your web host saw all the activity and cut it off for security concern. try doing it in smaller chunks.

Never had the issue before. I do event photography, and have uploaded several events over the past few years with more than 8K images. 4-6K is common. But, it wouldn't surprise me if my ISP "f'ed" it up for me. Restarted "processing" this morning, and it's working, but crawling!!! Did a connection speed test, it's up to speed, but damn it man, at this rate, it'll take 20hrs to process this batch. Rarely ever taken more than 6-8hrs. Shit that makes you go Hmmmmm? lol

Do they need to be able to download full size files?
I try to keep them between 3-3.5 mb for that. Big files make amateurs think something is wrong with their computer.

It could be hung on a photo that is too large to process. Check the photos waiting to be processed and see if it is larger than the rest. If so, remove it.

And if you start the process again, it will basically start where it left off.

Oh Tim, do tell me how to "restart"!! lol. I couldn't figure it out, and restarted from scratch! It seems to be taking much longer today than ever before, and we're using the dame process we've used for a few years now. After this, I think I'll be looking into to alternatives though. I like everything about photocart, and not really seeing Sytist as an answer to what and how we do things. At this point, it has processed just over 2100 images in 7.5 hours. Each file is about 6MB. Again, we've done it this way from the start. I may go to a smaller file size after our next event and just inconvenience the customer when they want a larger digital file.
If you can show me where Sytist can create many sub galleries within galleries, and display file names (numbers), I'm not opposed to trying it. Just not seeing that in the demos.

You would just start the processing the photos like you did the first time. It will process the remaining files.

You can FTP upload the exact same why in Sytist and create sub-galleries. You can also upload photos through the admin with the uploader and also an option to create sub-galleries by selecting folders.

You can also display file names under the photo thumbnails in Sytist.

"starting over" wasn't an option!!!! The tab that normally says "process images" was not available, and I couldn't find an alternative, So, I'm sitting here 15hrs later with only 4400 images processed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. You can bet your ass, I'll find another way of doing this!! My paid help didn't give a shit, because he was drawing a check! I care!
