Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

I have an already working photocart site that has been without issue for several years. We utilize the authorize.net payment gateway and it works as designed as well.

Recently, in the past month, we have had potential customers that have questioned why our site is not secure. After explaining that their credit card transaction is secure and the site moves from a http to an https site they are somewhat satisfied. But I believe the recent Target and Home depot issues with credit cards has people spooked. I don't know if/how much business we are losing because of a perceived unsecure site but I am investigating moving to an SSL based site.

The question is how difficult/how much, and what technical hurdles do I have to go thru to convert my site to an SSL site. Any help would be appreciated.

First you have to purchase a SSL (like from godaddy.com or your hosting company) and have your host install it if you don't already have one.

Then either make the link to your website https from you website which I don't recommend because it slows things down or go to Settings > Customer Registration & Login Settings and check the option "Use secure pages on login, register and checkout pages". This will make it automatically go to httpS when a customer creates an account or starts checkout.
