Attention
If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.
You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.
Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

Ugh. I've been using photocart on my site for years and all of a sudden this error message is popping up all over and nobody is able to order any pics:
Unable to connect to the databaseUnknown MySQL server host 'bartelsclient.db.4317162.hostedresource.com' (2)
This MySQL looks fine in my hosting control panel and everything. I'm not sure where to go from here. Help!

There is no MySQL server at bartelsclient.db.4317162.hostedresource.com. Check your hosting provider's FAQs regarding MySQL connections; 95% of providers use localhost instead of a different host for the MySQL server.

Those are the settings that my photocart has worked with for years. I've never touched the settings. Here is my Godaddy mysql db details for that database.
Any suggestions where to go from here? Like I said my cart has worked for years with these settings. It seems like only certain things don't work now. Clients can navigate around to view pics and options but the problems come when they try to purchase them.

Then you need to contact your hosting provider as the server is likely down and needs to be restarted

I am getting a similar error. I have also used PhotoCart for over 2 years without an issue and now over the last 2 months I get an error like this:
Unable to connect to the databaseLost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 61
Each time I contact my hosting company and they tell me that it is a 3rd party software problem (photocart). Any suggestions? I have been down all day today.

Also, what hosting company is your first choice as I have been thinking about switching for a while now.

The error means that the MySQL server is dropping connections, perhaps because it is overloaded by too many users.

Do you guys provide any help in repairing a MySQL Table? (Not sure if I am asking the question right) This is what I am getting now:
MySQL error: Table './mss/pics' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed
I am now scrambling to move my 3,000+ galleries over to Sytist but if you could give me any kind of help with this I would appreciate it.
