Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

Need To Migrate To Different Server.

Hi Tim,

Looks like my website is going to moved to another server and I was wondering whether you think there will be any migration compatibility issues?

I am on Photocart 7.1.0

Here is the email my hosting company sent:

". . . We have new servers that have been recently released than can run up to PHP 7.0 and MySQL 5.6. We expect to have all customers migrated to these servers in the coming months.

If you are interested in a manual migration, this can be performed during our helpdesk hours of 8am - 6pm and would involve approximately 10-15 minutes of downtime. Please be aware that the migration would be performed on a "best effort" basis and we cannot guarantee the successful migration of data. For this reason it is recommended that you perform your own data backup of the site content prior to the migration in case of any issues.

There may be compatibility issues, especially for database content due to the newer version of MySQL. If there is any compatibility issues, reverse migrations back to the original platform are unfortunately not possible once a migration has been initiated . . ."

What are your thoughts?

Cheers
Simon

Photo Cart is not compatible with PHP 7 so you would need to make sure PHP 5 (5.4 or 5.6) is available on the new server.

Sytist is compatible with PHP 5 & 7 so that will be fine.

Hi Tim,
My hosting provider says its new server can do 5.4.45 or 5.6.33. So it looks like I can place PhotoCart on there as well. Is there anything I need to do or let them know about before I go ahead?
Cheers
